I have a few ideas going for my zine that I’ll share, along with some inspiration photos for each one.
First, I’m considering making a zine that tells a love story, but from a unique perspective. I want to tell a love story by only showing shoes/bottom half of people. I think telling a whole story without seeing facial expressions would be a challenge but could also turn out really cool! I’m thinking to start with one figure wearing just any old pair of shoes. Then another figure wearing a different pair of shoes would walk up to the first one. I’d have some sort of progression then leading up to a page where the fissures are sharing a kiss, with figure #1 is on their tippy toes to show this. I’d then have them in the same pair of shoes (you know how couples get matching shoes these days…) and doing activities together. Then I’d eventually illustrate figure #2 walking away from figure #1 and it ends just how it started, with figure #1 on its own.
My other idea is to tell a story of someone receiving a camera as a gift. After showing a person getting a camera, I’d go on to tell a story of the person using the camera to take different pictures. I could do pages of the person taking a picture, and then use another page to show the picture. I think this idea could be fun because I could create my own little scenes for the person to photograph.
I do think I have more detail with my first idea at the moment, but I also think there may be more room for creativity in the second idea. I’m definitely going to brainstorm, develop, and play around with these ideas a little more.
